The Patriot Triathlon:

Massachusetts' Premier Half Iron

Join us July 5, 2008 in Freetown, MA for the second annual Patriot Triathlon. Formerly the Patriot Half Iron, this long distance triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 58 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) offers you a safe and scenic race, post-race festivities to enjoy after a long day on the course and an all around great race day experience.  Sure, there are other halfs out there, but here's what makes the Patriot special...
.
1. A rural, scenic course: The swim is in beautiful Long Pond (not a chilly ocean) and the bike and run are along country roads where you'll pass cranberry bogs, water features and local farms
2. Spacious transition: The Patriot transition area offers wide aisles and assigned positions with generous spacing... all this means transition "traffic jams" are minimized and no fighting for a spot
3. Terrific value: Other halfs might cost you $200-$250; registration for the Patriot is $165 until June 20th which includes cool swag (e.g. technical shirt, running hat, water bottle), a delicious post race catered meal, a chance at winning some valuable giveaways and 72.3 miles of great racing (more racing for the money!)

.
4. No overcrowding: The field is limited to 650 registrants so all swim waves will have less than 100 racers (Note: The Patriot sold out in 2007 with 650 registrants)
5. Experienced, local event management team: The Patriot is organized by Sun Multisport Events, the same team behind the Cranberry Country Triathlon and Multisport World Conference and Expo including two USAT certified Race Directors.
6. Generous volunteer support: Volunteers are key to a successful race; we'll have 150+ on hand to help you from registration and body marking right up to putting that finisher's medal around your neck.
7. Commitment to creating a more environmentally friendly event: We have partnered with Athletes for a Fit Planet in an effort to introduce a more comprehensive recycling system and use products that are biodegradable.
.
The inaugural Patriot in 2007 was a great success with lots of positive feedback from racers. Like any first time race, we found some things to change that will make the race even better the second time around. If you raced with us in 2007, we think you'll like the changes and if you didn't, we're confident you'll find the 2008 Patriot a race you'll want to do again.
